EGER:

Programme

Visiting the Castle of Diósgyőr in Miskolc, situated in the foot of the Bükk Hills built in the middle ages; taking a short walk in Lillafüred, in the climatic health-resort, at the meeting point of Garadna and Szinva valleys along the Hámori Lake, surrounded by the charming Castle Hotel. Arriving in Eger, the town of tradition, heroism and of fine wines, built in baroque style. Visiting the Castle of Eger and its Museum with exhibition of Turkish times. Sightseeing in the inner city of Eger (Minaret, Dobó Square, Széchenyi Street, Cathedral) as well as  wine tasting and a lunch.

HORTOBÁGY (the Hungarian Sztyeppe or “Puszta”):

Programme

Visting the Matyó Museum in Mezőkövesd, which is the capital of Matyóland where the highly coloured embroidery and the folk costumes of the Matyó  ethnic group are exhibited . Arrival at the territory of the Hortobágy National Park, an UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Visiting the Nine Arch Bridge and the Museum of Shepherds, going for a carriage-ride, having lunch – enjoying a Hungarian “Gulyás-party”.

TOKAJ:

Programme

Arrival in Sárospatak, visiting the Rákóczi Castle, being famous of its Lórántffy Loggia, Perényi Wing and Red Towe. It was one of the most important centres of the 16-18th century Hungarian history. Arrival in Tokaj, the town of wines, taking a walk in the 18th century city centre, which is a part of World Heritage, visiting the Museum of Tokaj followed by a wine tasting in the most famous cellar of Tokaj, the Rákóczi Cellar and a lunch.

MISKOLC-TAPOLCA:

CAVE BATH

The thermal cave baths are a unique experience in Europe for those who stand below the karst waterfall which pours down from the depths of the hills. The baths have a delightful location, surrounded by thousands of acres of woodland, and the waters have medicinal properties.

It is only 3 km from the University (4 stops by local bus)

Opening hours: from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day

Price.                             EUR 7 / 4 hours

 

The registration fee includes a free night swimming in the Cave Bath after the Welcome reception from 9pm on 1st of July.

Detailed information on the night swimming:

A cloakroom will be available for bags with swimming stuff during the Welcome ceremony. At the end of the Welcome reception shuttle buses at 20.30 will be available from the university to the Bath (for those participants who would like to join us for a relaxing night swimming) or to the hotels (for those participants who prefer to return to the hotel).

The name badge will be necessary to enter to the Bath. Towels will be provided by a sponsor, but please bring swimming dress, flip flop and other personal swimming needs.

Official end of the night swimming is 24.00, shuttle buses will be available to hotels from 23.30.
